25 Things You Should Know About Me…

September 2, 2009 | By | 64 Replies More

I have been tagged!!! A valued member in Alex Jeffreys forum – The Gazzman! – has started a little challenge and people are getting tagged all over the place! We are supposed to write down 25 things about ourselves that others might want to know (or not)! So I got the big T A G a few days ago from Gene Ilten, and I have surprised myself now by actually finishing it off in a few days – not weeks!

So, I hope you are sitting down:

  1. I am the artsy one in the Weiss family. One day my whole house will be covered in my own paintings! – If I ever have time to paint and draw again, that is, keeping you all entertained is taking up so much time! 😉
  2. Apparently I tend to often interrupt people when they are talking because I get so much into the conversation and want to get my word in before I forget what I wanted to say!
  3. I was always really, really bad at writing essays – that’s probably why it takes me a long time to get blog posts together!
  4. I am German, studied German administration and got a diploma, just to travel to Australia and end up “for good” there! The Australians don’t seem too interested in what I know about German administration… :)
  5. I have climbed Ayers Rock in Central Australia and dived with sharks at the Great Barrier Reef (!?!? did I really do this?? How old was I??)
  6. Since I had the kids (7 and 6 now) I have become the greatest CHICKEN on earth – I see danger in everything, hence me questioning No.5. 😉
  7. But I have still started to do waterskiing early this year and really enjoy it!CIMG0140 When the season starts again soon I will have to learn how to drive the boat (shiver….) I don’t have a photo of me on skis, just of me and mini-me before her kneeboarding…
  8. I absolutely love my two Jack Russells Boomer and Dash, but I am sometimes to lazy to take them for their walk (shame on me!)
  9. I don’t like the telephone. Never have. It took me ages to get a mobile phone.
  10. I am a “Yes”- Sayer. I can’t say no. I want to please everybody. I HATE my weak self!
  11. I am obsessed about my weight. I eat too much. I love food. I LOVE FOOD. Constantly on a diet or other….
  12. I am very good at making resolutions about what I am going to do; but I really SUCK at sticking with it!
  13. I am extremely compassionate. Sometimes too much, because hearing about certain events can mess me up for quite a while…
  14. My 2 dream holidays: Horseback riding in the Rocky Mountains, Painting course in Tuscany.
  15. Swimming is one of my favorite sports. I am a water rat.
  16. I’ve served ice-cream in our own store in the center of Australia for 7 years, and hated every minute of it. Loved the “all-you-can-eat-for-free” though.
  17. Been together with my partner for nearly 15 years…
  18. Never in my whole life has anybody asked me “will you marry me?” – …They must all have known that I would say no!! 😉
  19. I consider myself a single mum as my partner is constantly away on business.
  20. I am currently doing Certificate IV in Bookkeeping – I want to be able to do someting for the unlikely case that my Internet Marketing doesn’t take off! (don’t put all your eggs in one basket, or so the saying goes?)
  21. My favorite book right now is Enough: Breaking Free from the World of More fantastic read!
  22. One of my favorite things to do is to go for a walk along the beach here with my kids and dogs and watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean…. (are you jealous??)
  23. I love to do paperwork and office work. I know – I am a rare breed! :) And I have always been absolutely pedantic about being organized and neat. I should have married an accountant! – If I ever would have been asked, that is…
  24. I cannot lie. I am too honest. That’s probably a good thing!
  25. I am a happy person who enjoys life and I am on a quest to better myself by being more mindful, doing 10 minutes of meditation every day (so far I still suck at it, I have to learn), by giving more and being more content.
  26. I am always up for a challenge (hint hint!). What I consider my biggest challenge right now is to show all my friends and family that you can actually make lots of money with Internet Marketing!!!

Here is what I have added after completing the list (I will keep adding here as I see fit, on an ongoing basis!)

  • I yearn to see more of the world. I have been to lots of countries in Europe while I was still living in Germany, and have also been to Sri Lanka, Thailand and Bali, and of course now I am living in Australia, but I would love to see North and South America, and Africa! Russia, China, Japan….
  • I have been snow skiing in Zermatt in Switzerland (at the Matterhorn)
  • I have cycled around Bali by myself – now THAT was cool!

Puh, that’s done! I hope I haven’t scared you off now, and you will keep enjoying reading my blog! Thanks, Gene, for tagging me to take part in the challenge, as you can see I have risen to the task, now I will go off and tag my 5 people, too!!! I will be listing the other “contestants” who get the T A G from me right here as they complete their tasks. Watch this space!

Here are the Internet Marketers who were fortunate enough to get tagged by me :):

  1. Rob Willis – 25 things you may not know about me.
  2. Vance Sova – What are Alex Jeffreys students up to?
  3. Veronica Purdey – Tagged by Petra for 25 random things

    Petra
Great job on the 25. Nice to know a little more about you and where you come from and have been. Very Jealous of you for # 5. I scuba dive, and living off the coast of California it is quite fun. Lucky enough to have dove in Hawaii and Mexico and yes plenty of sharks but I really want to dive off the Great Barrier Reef. I will one day when this IM stuff works.
    # 6 I understand, but don’t try to protect them from everything.
The balance of your 25 is wonderful read and very cool.
Glad you “PICKED UP THE GAUNTLET”

  2. Vance Sova says:

    Hi Petra,

What a nice post. I’m sure you wouldn’t have written it if you hadn’t been tagged.

I’m surprised at how many things you like doing are close to or the same ones I like to do, like swimming. I’d like to paint if I had the talent like my dad. But I don’t. So instead when I have time I like taking pictures.

I’m even more surprised that you love something that I really don’t enjoy that much – paperwork and office work. I actually know of nobody who really enjoys paperwork and only a few people that don’t mind doing it.

I think that with your talents and being so well organized you’ll be a great success in internet marketing in not too distant future and your accounting skills will just be a hobby.

    Vance.

    • Petra Weiss says:

@Vance, it’s great to know that there are others in Alex’s program that I can relate to! Well, it’s kind of funny, I love Maths and am pretty good at it, and at the same time I love painting and doing paperwork. All things that don’t go really well together….:) I will try and be a great success in internet marketing for sure, I will give it my best shot! I will see you at the top!

  3. Paul Norwine says:

    Hi Petra,

I, too, was tagged by Gene but haven’t had a chance to list my 25 things. I have to say that #2 was my favorite, “Apparently I tend to often interrupt people when they are talking because I get so much into the conversation and want to get my word in before I forget what I wanted to say!” My fiance and I do this to each other all the time and it drives each of us nuts :)

    Paul

    • Petra Weiss says:

@Paul, well, I think that’s what happens to my partners in conversation, too. The bad thing is that I was not aware of it until somebody said it to me (quite angrily) about a year ago, and now I sit here wondering how many people have found me “invasive” whilst I was thinking I am a great person to talk to! 😉

  4. Stanmarx says:

Wow, Petra this is an interesting set of information…I think i’ll be cashing in on number 10 very soon…lol

  5. Gene says:

Great job, Petra! I am proud of you!

#4 I am German too. Well, at least part. My father’s family came from the Hannover area of Germany.

#9 I hate the phone too. It is like pulling teeth to get me to call anyone. For me it come from my shy nature.

#11 I wish I obsessed with my weight

#16 If I ever make it to Australia, I will stop for ice cream, but you will be a big success by then and not doing it anymore.

Thanks for responding to my tag.

    Gene

  7. DJ says:

Hey somethings between you and me are common. U are really an interesting person.

  8. Rob Willis says:

    Petra,

    Great list. Very well done.

Thanks for the tag. Look forward to my list of 25 over the next couple of days.

You still diving? Maybe we can head out over the summer months…

Look forward to catching up with you real soon. (I am in Ocean Reef BTW)

    • Petra Weiss says:

@Rob, unfortunately I am not diving any more (see No.6) – the Barrier Reef was the only time for me, but I enjoyed it thoroughly, it is amazing. Will make contact soon!

  9. John Tanner says:

    Hi Petra,

    Lovely post.

There’s nothing wrong with saying Yes.

Have you seen the film ‘The Yes Man’ starring Jim Carey.

It’s a true storey about a guy that always said no to opportunities and then one day decided to say yes to everything.

It changed his life and lead to so many opportunities.

    Speak soon,
    John

  10. Heidi Passey says:

Great list, Petra. I can relate with you #12, #10 and #11. One of my regular resolutions is to make working out and exercise a part of my life, it usually lasts a few weeks. Once I miss a few days I can’t ever seem to get back into the routine.

I need to learn to say no. Especially at work when I have so many things that I can barely keep my head above water … then I go and say “Yes, I can do that” … LOL

I’m totally opposite with the water skiing. It freaks me out. The one time I tried I fell and got a really painful swimsuit wedgie. Never tried it again. But I love snow skiing.

  11. Robin says:

You are awesome Petra, really. Be proud of all you are doing. I was (am) a single mom my whole son’s life, ok, since he was four. I had a job where I had to travel so getting childcare was difficult. It is REALLY tough doing it all alone as people don’t realize how isolated you are, even though you are out doing everything. That IS the point, you are out doing EVERYTHING and sometimes it is nice to have a partner there to bounce ideas and share responsabilities. SO don’t be afraid to ask for help from others around you and build up that support group and take some time for you…away from kids and dogs, and sharks.

We have many simularities, soul sister. I’m proud of you!
    RAH

    Hi I’m Trevor
    Twiter ID: Trevor_T_Jones
I am a student of Alex Jeffreys I have been looking around at fellow students blogs and came across yours. Definitely one of the best. I felt I had to leave a comment because your blog is simply, so inspirational and informative, It has given me hope and ideas to better mine.
It is so clean and fresh looking. I am always worried I overdo it myself, to much content you know. Your blog is just right. I would appreciate if you would pass comment on mine just to confirm I haven’t overdone it. On my blog I am doing a theme on successful internet marketers. Really like to know what you think as I am pretty new to all this layout stuff. I hope one day that I can write about your internet success. Keep up the good work

Hey maybe we could follow each other on twitter.

  13. Dharma says:

cycling around Bali? wow thank you so much for visiting my island..please come back again with friends….

  14. Terry says:

These things are really great because we get to know you a lot better. We might not meet in person in this lifetime but at least reading about you is just like meeting someone new in person.

Yeah, I too love food. I’m on a seafood diet actually. When I see food, I eat it. LOL

  15. I love lists like this but can’t bring myself to make one about myself except it’s on people’s blogs. Maybe I’ll try it out on my blog someday.

Number 9: I’m no a huge phone of the telephone either except in terms of emergency of juicy gossip. (Yep! That’s right. I said it. I’m a guy that loves gossip BUT not the maliciously kind)

Number 11: LMAO. I just can’t do without carbs. They get me through every mild depression and hunger pangs I might encounter along the way. I’ve come to notice that I diet better when I’m low on funds but once the money starts flowing, I just can’t resist buying every type of food that catches my attention.
I’m looking forward to some diet pills and strict diet under my mum’s supervision come October when I’m home again with my family.
It’s so bad that I’ve been unlucky in finding Nivea’s GoodBye Cellulite here in Nigeria. That stuff did some remarkable wonders on my cellulite and stretch marks.

Number 17 & 18: 15 years in a relationship? I envy you and so many others. My relationships never get past the 2 months mark and from then onwards it’s “Friends with benefits” till I move to another state or house. You don’t need a marriage certificate to be happy. Most folks here in Nigeria pester that children to get married all for one selfish reason: THEY WANT GRANDKIDS BEFORE THEY DIE.

Number 26: You’ve said it all.

    • Petra Weiss says:

@Udegbunam – thank you for commenting on points on my list! Do you really suffer from cellulite and stretchmarks? Maybe we all have to try Nivea if it’s so good 😉

  16. Do forgive the grammatical errors. I was typing fast as my time @ the cybercafe was almost up. 😉

  17. vikky says:

Lots of things you described about yourself. But it is good to know some of the good points about you.

  18. Hi Petra,

Very interesting and honest list – I know you better.

I could easily have put one from your list onto mine – horseback riding in the Rocky Mountains. I can’t ride, but I’d love to do it.

    Take care,

    Andrew.

  19. Rob Canyon says:

    Petra,

Love your list, be careful of number 10 however.

A great person once said to me that we are not defined by what we say yes to in life but rather what we say no to.

Take care, and I like waterskiing too.

@Rob, something to think about! Hmmm, I am not very defined then at the moment! 😉 I am learning to say no! Waterskiing is great, isn’t it?

  20. Hey Petra,

Ive just stumbled across your website and I must say I’ve found it very inspiring. Im a single mom and budding internet marketer so to see other “normal” women that are doing it and doing it well is real encouragement! Thanks for all the info you share here – its highly appreciated!
.-= Storm Shadow Costumes´s last blog ..Storm Shadow Halloween Costumes =-.

  21. @Petra: Yes I’ve got the stretch marks and cellulite to show for my love of food and crash diets. LOL. But hey it’s not in the league of hideous cellulites and stretchmarks. It’s quite amazing that fat tends to concentrate around my lower abs, bum and thighs. As though I were a chick. LMAO. The only good thing about is it that the big bum helps fill out my trousers nicely and some folks go gaga looking at it especially chicks who would die to have a little bit of what I’ve got. LOL.

I saw Tyra Banks promoting Nivea Goodbye Cellulite and that was why I bought it and it didn’t disappoint. It’s the best anticellulite gel, I’ve bought in the entire existence of my fat bum. It cost around $20 for a bottle of 200ml then. I just hope the price has dropped a little but the quality remains the same.

Petra, I am obsessed with my weight too! I rather should say I WAS obsessed with my weight for a long time. But not any more.

I am losing weight since I put my hands on this book: “Eat to Live” by Dr Joel Fuhrman, M.D. I have not finished reading the book yet and I have already lost at least 10 pounds during the last month. I don’t even care to measure. I know I will loose everything I don’t need because I am following simple rules described in the book and I know for trying them how powerful they are.

Anyway here’s a little .pdf fact sheet about the book:

I’m the same way with interrupting people — I try to stop myself (since I know it’s kind of rude), but I find myself being so drawn in to the conversation that I can’t help myself. Something to work on, for sure.

Point 6 is interesting. My wife was very daring until we had children and she is now terrified of most things, i.e. rollercoasters, driving, etc.

  31. Petra, nice list! I’m guessing you probably would not have taken the time to write down your thoughts if you hadn’t been tagged. Maybe this tagging thing wasn’t such a bad idea after all, huh?

Sam, I actually dived with sharks again just a couple of months ago. My partner and I went on a trip to Rangiroa/Tahiti and I went on a tour to the Blue Lagoon where we watched baby sharks, and after that we went out into the deeper water where all the parents were! I was in the water with probably 70 or so sharks! Didn’t matter that they were “only” black tip reef sharks, they were still a little bigger than I and it was eerie and scary. But it felt good afterwards to have done it! :-) Here is a video of the little baby sharks in the lagoon

  37. I have known Petra since 1996 when we lived both in Alice Springs. She is a wonderful and very friendly and very beautiful person and it is great fun to talk to her. We had many lunch times and afternoons together with our common friend Elisabeth and we talked and talked. Therefore the point 2 is wrong. Whoever said something like that to her can only be a person who is not only very rude, but does not be interrupted in his or her own monologs either. Thanks God we did not have a person like that in our wonderful group in Alice Springs. Petra, you forgot to write down that you are a very sensitive person. One person was enough and you believe that you interrupt people when they are talking. Cross that out of your list. YOU ARE A FANTASTIC TALKER! And I love to talk to you!

Wow Petra, you seem to live a really interesting and varied life. I can relate to some of these as well. With point 11, I also LOVE FOOD, and so that I don’t balloon to a massive weight, I do LOTS of exercise. The more food I eat the more exercise I try to do to burn all those calories off.
With point 22, do you have a photo of a sunset over the Indian Ocean? If so, would love to see it posted on your blog.
Thanks again for an interesting and educational blog.
